Say what matters underneath the complaint

Put your own feeling and need into words, without guessing your partner’s inner world.

Begin with your experience

A complaint can point to a wish to feel heard, supported, or close. Notice which feeling or need is actually yours. You do not have to uncover a hidden cause or classify an attachment style.

Words to try

“I felt alone with that decision. I would like us to talk it through together.”

Make understanding possible

Offer one honest sentence, then make room for their account. The aim is understanding, not persuading someone that your interpretation is the only truth. Share only what feels safe.

Where the idea comes from

EFT attends to emotion and connection. This is an original educational practice, not an EFT session or an assessment. If there is fear or control, prioritize support rather than emotional disclosure.
