Draft for review. This document has not been approved or published and is not in effect. It may change before KinHarmony launches.

KinHarmony helps couples grow closer. Much of what you write in KinHarmony is personal, so this policy explains in plain English what stays on your device, what we store, what your partner can see, who else is involved, how long we keep things, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

KinHarmony is provided by Dawsie Nora, LLC, a United States company, referred to as “we” or “us.” We decide how and why your personal information is used, so we are responsible for it (the “controller,” in the words of some privacy laws). Contact cs@kinharmony.app with any question about this policy or your information.

KinHarmony is offered in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

This policy covers kinharmony.app, kinharmonyapp.com when it directs you to our services, the KinHarmony iPhone app, and related support. It applies to the features you use. Our Terms of Use explain the rules for using KinHarmony.

2. The short version

  • You choose what to share. Private writing stays private unless you choose to share it. What you share in partner features is visible to your connected partner.
  • Find the right words runs on your iPhone. It uses Apple’s on-device AI model, so what you describe is not sent to us, to Apple, or to any other company.
  • No other AI. No other KinHarmony feature uses AI, and we do not use your content to train AI models.
  • No ads, no selling. We do not sell your information, share it for targeted advertising, or use advertising or analytics trackers.
  • No marketing email. We email you only about your account, such as verifying your address or resetting your password.
  • You can leave. You can disconnect, block, or delete your account. Section 14 explains what is removed and what is kept, and for how long.
  • Stored in the United States. Section 19 explains what that means, and the extra rights you have, if you live in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand.

3. Visiting the website

Our hosting and security providers receive the technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, the referring page, and the time of each request. We use it to run the website, prevent abuse, and fix problems.

The website serves its own fonts and does not load advertising or analytics trackers. If you sign in, we use necessary cookies to keep you signed in and protect your account. If you use private writing tools on the website, what you save is stored in your browser on that device, separately for each account. Clearing your browser data removes it and signs you out.

When you open website checkout, it loads Paddle’s checkout. Paddle receives connection and checkout information and may use cookies under its own privacy notice (opens in a new tab). Links to other websites are governed by those websites’ policies.

4. Your account

To create an account, you give us your email address and a first name or nickname, and you choose a password. We store your password only as a secure hash, never as readable text. We also keep records of your signed-in sessions, including the IP address and browser or device details used to sign in, and short-lived records used to limit repeated sign-in attempts.

On iPhone you can instead choose Continue with Apple. Apple then gives us an account identifier for you, your email address (or an Apple relay address if you choose Hide My Email), and, the first time only, the name you choose to share. We never receive your Apple ID password. We keep a token from Apple so that when you delete your KinHarmony account, we can tell Apple to end the connection.

You may also add optional details to your home screen, such as a preferred name and an anniversary or together-since date.

We use your email address to verify it, to reset your password, and for necessary messages about your account or purchases. Our email delivery provider receives your address and the message content needed to send these emails. Creating an account does not add you to a mailing list, and we do not send marketing email.

The iPhone app keeps its sign-in token in the iPhone’s secure Keychain.

5. What stays on your device

Many KinHarmony tools keep your writing only on your device or in your browser. This includes your saved guidance and approaches, Find the right words results you choose to save, your private reflections and journal, practice reminders, and, if you use the app without an account, your weekly goals and to-dos. These do not sync between your iPhone and the website and are not visible to your partner.

Saved Find the right words results, your journal, and device-only weekly plans are stored in protected files that are excluded from iPhone backups. Some other preferences and saved guidance are stored in ordinary app settings, which can be included in your iPhone backups. Signing out does not erase these device records. Deleting the app removes them from that iPhone.

Information on your device is only as private as your device. Anyone with access to your unlocked iPhone, browser, or backups may be able to see it. We cannot erase information that exists only on your device.

Home Screen and Lock Screen widget. If you add the optional KinHarmony widget, it shows your next visit countdown, whether today’s question is waiting, your partner’s first name and local time, and whether a letter or note is waiting. It never shows what anyone wrote unless you turn on “Show notes on my widget” in Partner notes. Then it also shows the latest note your partner sent you, which is hidden on the Lock Screen while your iPhone is locked. This information stays on your iPhone, is shared only between the KinHarmony app and its widget, and is cleared when you sign out, disconnect, or delete your account. Widgets on your Home Screen can be seen by anyone who can see your phone.

Date ideas on your device. Date ideas keeps a few conveniences on your iPhone or in your browser, for your account only: which reveals you have already seen, your Find one for tonight answers, ticks on an idea’s checklist, date cards you set aside, and Our list until you connect with a partner. Your picks are never kept there. When another account opens Date ideas on the same iPhone or browser, these are erased first, and deleting your account in the app erases them from that iPhone. Pick on one phone, for two people sharing one device, keeps both people’s choices only until you close the results, and sends nothing to us.

Your first answers. When you first open the iPhone app, it asks your first name, your partner’s first name, what brings you to KinHarmony, and how you found us (with a short note if you choose Other). These answers stay on your iPhone, where they shape what the app suggests to you. They are not sent to us.

When you write a description, please use words like “my partner” or “my child” and leave out names, addresses, schools, and other identifying details you do not need to include.

6. Find the right words, voice input, and read aloud

Find the right words

Find the right words uses Apple’s on-device AI model on supported iPhones. Before a request, the app explains how it works and asks you to confirm. What goes to the model includes your description, the relationship you choose, an optional child age range, the kind of help you want, KinHarmony-written guidance options, and, if you allowed it, short preferences you saved about yourself.

The model runs on your iPhone. It chooses among guidance written by KinHarmony, and the app shows that guidance. Your description is not sent to KinHarmony’s servers, to Apple’s servers, or to any other AI company. Some safety and fallback responses use KinHarmony-written guidance without the model. Saved history, notes, photos, drawings, account details, and purchase information are not included.

Nothing is saved unless you choose Save. Apple describes its approach to privacy at apple.com/privacy (opens in a new tab).

The website’s guidance for harder conversations does not use AI. When you use it, our server receives what you enter to select KinHarmony-written guidance and to check your membership. The server does not save what you entered.

Voice input and read aloud

Voice input starts only when you choose to dictate and allow microphone and speech recognition access. It uses Apple’s on-device English speech recognition, so your audio is not sent to us or to Apple’s servers. KinHarmony does not save audio recordings. Dictation stops when you stop it, when you leave the app, or after one minute. You review the text before inserting it. After that, the text is handled like anything else you type in that feature.

Read aloud uses your iPhone’s built-in voice to speak guidance when you tap it. People nearby may hear it. KinHarmony never listens in the background or records conversations.

7. Connecting with your partner

To connect, one of you shares an invitation link, such as kinharmony.app/join followed by a code. The code is in the part of the link after the “#” symbol, which browsers do not send to our servers. We store only a coded version of the invitation, which works once and expires after 7 days. The person you invite enters a first name or nickname and chooses to accept. We never read your contacts to find a partner.

Once you are connected, your partner can see the name you connected with and the content you choose to share. Your partner can also see that you have an active membership, because one membership covers both of you.

8. What you share with your partner

Shared features store what you share on our servers so it can appear on both of your devices. Shared content is protected by access controls and sent over encrypted connections, but it is not end-to-end encrypted. Your partner can save, copy, or screenshot anything you share, and we cannot recall copies made outside KinHarmony.

Little notes

We store each note’s text, who sent it, who received it, and when. Removing a note removes it from your own view only. A note you sent stays visible to your partner until they remove it or the connection ends. Received notes stay with the recipient for 30 days after a connection ends, as explained in section 14.

Open when… letters

Open when… letters are notes with a sealed envelope. We store the letter, its envelope words (for example, “Open when you miss me”), its opening date if you set one, and when it was sealed, edited, opened, and kept. You can add one photo to a letter. It is chosen and prepared the same way as a shared photo memory (see Shared photo memories below) and kept in the same private storage. Until your partner opens the letter, they are not told it has a photo. Until your partner opens a letter, we show them only the envelope. Your device’s time zone is sent when you view or open letters so we can tell when a dated letter’s day has arrived. The sender can change or unsend a letter for 2 minutes after sealing it, even if it was already opened, and is never told whether it was opened. Unsending a letter that hasn’t been opened deletes its photo. If a letter is changed or unsent after it was opened, we keep the words and any photo your partner saw so they can still report it, under the same rules as reports. When a connection ends, letters that haven’t been opened are deleted for both of you. Opened letters follow the same rules as Little notes: the recipient keeps them for 30 days, then they are deleted. A letter’s photo is deleted when the connection ends, even when its words are kept. A report keeps a copy of the letter, its envelope words, and its photo for up to 90 days.

Daily question

You and your partner each answer the daily question on your own phone. We store your answer, and we do not show either answer to the other person until you have both answered. After that, both answers are visible to both of you. Answers are kept while you are connected. A new question starts when the first of you reaches a new day in your own time zone.

Weekly check-in

Your check-in answers, including your choices, any need you add, and an optional note, are saved privately to your account. Your partner sees them only after you both choose to share the same week. Any small step you propose is shared with your partner. If you edit your answers or withdraw sharing, your answers become private again.

Shared calendar and weekly plans

Both of you can see, add, change, and delete events on the shared calendar. We store each event’s title, date, time, time zone, any location you type, and repeat settings. If you mark an event as a visit (“We’ll be together”), we also store its last day, and Home shows a countdown to it for both of you. Your partner can view, change, and delete a visit like any shared event. KinHarmony does not access your device’s calendar, contacts, or location.

Your time zone. KinHarmony saves your time zone (for example, America/Chicago) to your account, taken from your phone or browser, or the one you choose in settings. It is shown only to your connected partner, as your local time. It is used to decide when your shared daily question and your weekly date ideas start, and to suggest date times that work on both of your clocks. It is not your location, and KinHarmony does not ask for location permission. Disconnecting or blocking stops sharing it, and it is removed when you delete your account.

Weekly goals and to-dos are private to you. If you are signed in, they are saved to your account so you can use them on your devices. Your partner cannot see them.

Understanding Each Other

Understanding Each Other does not use AI. Your answers are saved privately to your account. When you choose Send to partner, we store a copy for your partner to read. Editing your private answers does not change a copy you already sent. Any shared reflections or next steps you add are visible to both of you.

Partner games, including Secret Missions

We store each game’s prompt, your choices, the game status, and any words or sentences you send. Your partner sees the parts of the game meant for them. Secret mission tasks and hidden answers are held back until the game’s reveal. Game rounds expire between one hour and seven days after they start, depending on the game. Secret Missions expire after 24 hours.

Tug-of-Draw

Tug-of-Draw is a shared canvas you take turns drawing on. We store the drawing and its prompt while the round is active. A round expires after 24 hours, and it also ends when either of you ends it, disconnects, or blocks. If both of you allow it, either of you can save or share a keepsake picture of the drawing. The app asks only for permission to add the keepsake to Photos; it does not read your photo library. If you report a drawing, the report includes the shared drawing as it is when you report it and its prompt. Because you both draw on one canvas, it does not show which of you drew each line.

Shared photo memories

You choose photos to share using the iPhone photo picker, which gives the app only the photos you select. The app does not use your camera or read the rest of your photo library. Before uploading, the app makes a smaller copy of the photo and removes its hidden details, including location. We store that copy, any caption, and who shared it and when, in private storage that only the app’s server can access. Your partner can view your shared photos, and can screenshot them like anything else you share.

If you remove a photo you shared, it is removed for both of you. If you hide a photo your partner shared, it is hidden only for you.

Date ideas

You can browse every date idea, and use Find one for tonight, without sharing anything. The ideas are built into the app and website. Date ideas does not use AI, and nothing in it is used for analytics or advertising.

Picking together. Each week, you and your partner each go through the same ten ideas on your own and choose I’d love to or Not now. We store your choices with your account so you can pick on any of your devices. Your partner never sees them. Before the reveal, your partner sees only how far along you are. At the reveal, you both see only the ideas you both said yes to, called matches. Because matches are shared, if you said yes to an idea that is not a match, you can tell that your partner did not say yes to it, or had not picked it yet. KinHarmony never shows or says this. At the reveal, we delete every choice for that week, including any copy kept to handle a repeated request. If a week’s ideas close before you reveal them, about two weeks after they arrive, the choices are deleted then. We keep which ideas each week showed you for 26 weeks, so the same ideas do not come back too soon. Either of you can set whether your ideas are for living close or long distance. That setting is shared, and on Automatic it follows your two time zones and any visit on your shared calendar.

Matches and Our list. Your matches are visible to both of you. So is Our list: the ideas either of you saves, and ideas you write yourselves, with an optional note and who added them. Either of you can move or remove anything on Our list, or let a match go, which removes it for both of you.

Planning a date. Planning a date is part of membership. It adds the date to your shared calendar with the idea’s title, the date, time, and time zone you choose, and any location you type. Some ideas also add an earlier event to get ready, such as mailing a package. Planned dates follow the shared calendar rules above, so either of you can change or delete them. We also store which idea a plan is for, whether you turned on a Secret Mission for it, and which of your Open when… letters you linked to it. Linking a letter never tells anyone whether it was opened. Suggested times use both of your saved time zones. If you choose Add to Apple Calendar on iPhone or Add to my calendar on the website instead, your iPhone’s own event editor or your browser creates the entry. Nothing is sent to us, and KinHarmony does not read your calendar.

Our dates. After a date, each of you can add one photo and one line of up to 140 characters, or just mark it done. We store the date’s title and day, whether you were together or apart, and each person’s photo and line. Until you have both added yours or marked it done, your partner sees only that yours is in. They cannot see your line, whether you added a photo, or the photo itself. Then both are revealed to both of you at once, and the photos also appear in Shared photo memories. After the reveal, you can remove your line or photo but not change them, and removing a photo removes it for both of you. Hide from my dates hides a date only for you. Before uploading, the app or website makes a smaller copy of the photo and removes its hidden details, including location, as with shared photo memories. A photo you upload but never add to a date is removed after about an hour. Your partner can report your line or photo after the reveal, and ideas you wrote on Our list, as section 11 explains.

Parenting tools and other shared activities

Parenting tools, such as family agreements and parenting-together answers, work the same way. What you save stays private until you choose to share it with your partner. These tools do not create an account or profile for a child. Other shared activities, such as shared cards and prompts, also store what you share so both of you can see it.

9. Notifications

Notifications are optional and start only when you turn them on. When you do, we store your iPhone’s notification token, the account it belongs to, and your notification preferences. Apple’s push notification service delivers the alerts.

Game and calendar alerts use general wording and never include your content. Date ideas sends no notifications of its own. A planned date is a shared calendar event, so its reminder uses the calendar’s general wording. Note alerts use general wording unless you turn on note previews. If you do, up to the first 160 characters of the note pass through Apple’s push service and may appear on the lock screen. An alert that has already been sent cannot be recalled. Daily question and practice reminders are scheduled on your iPhone itself.

10. Memberships and purchases

We never receive your full payment card details.

Apple. Apple handles purchases in the iPhone app. When you are signed in, the app sends Apple’s signed purchase information to our server so we can check it with Apple and apply your membership to your account and your connected partner. We store an encrypted purchase identifier, whether it is a test or live purchase, and when the membership is active until. Our subscription management provider receives your KinHarmony account identifier and your purchase and subscription information, plus technical app and device details, to manage in-app purchases. We do not send it your name, email address, or anything you write.

Paddle. Paddle is our authorized reseller and merchant of record for website purchases. We send Paddle your email address and a private reference that links the purchase to your account. Paddle collects your payment and billing details. We receive and store customer, subscription, and transaction identifiers, your plan, subscription status and dates, amounts, and any refund or adjustment status.

Apple and Paddle handle their own fraud checks, taxes, receipts, and records under Apple’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab) and Paddle’s privacy notice (opens in a new tab). Deleting your KinHarmony account does not cancel a subscription or delete records Apple or Paddle keep.

11. Safety: filtering, reports, blocking, and review

Filtering. Before they are delivered, notes, daily answers, check-in notes, captions, game entries, and some other written entries are checked by an automatic filter on our server for certain threats, harassment, unwanted sexual requests, requests for passwords or codes, and excessive links. The filter follows fixed rules. It does not use AI or send your content to another company.

Reports. You can report a note you received, a photo your partner shared, a Tug-of-Draw drawing, your partner’s entries in certain word and story games, and your partner’s lines and photos in Our dates and ideas they wrote on Our list. A report includes the reported content, the reason you choose, any details you add, and the identifiers of the accounts involved. It does not include your private writing or unrelated shared content. We do not show the report to your partner, though a restriction may become noticeable to them. You can also report anything by email.

Blocking. Blocking your partner ends your shared space for both of you and stops the two accounts from connecting again. To keep a blocked person from getting around a block or a suspension with a new account, we keep a one-way coded version of the account’s email address, created with a secret key. It cannot be turned back into the email address.

Review. Authorized people on our team review reports using restricted tools. They may remove content, stop an account from sharing with a partner, or close the account. We keep a record of review actions without copying the reported content into it. Reports and review are not emergency monitoring.

12. Support and feedback

When you email cs@kinharmony.app, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments. We use them to answer you, fix problems, and keep KinHarmony safe. Please do not send passwords, verification codes, full card numbers, or sensitive details you do not need to share.

The app can prepare a feedback report about guidance or an error. You choose whether to include the guidance or your description, and you can edit the report before sending it. Preparing a report does not send it to us. It is sent only if you send it by email or share it.

13. Who we share information with

We share information only in these situations:

  • With your partner, when you share something in a partner feature.
  • With service providers that work for us: website and server hosting; network and security; database and file storage; email delivery for account messages; email forwarding for our support address; subscription management for in-app purchases; and Apple’s push notification service. They may use information only to provide their services to us and as the law allows.
  • With Apple and Paddle, which handle purchases, and Apple for notifications and on-device features. They also handle information under their own privacy policies.
  • With authorized people on our team who handle support and safety review.
  • When required or necessary, to comply with the law, respond to valid legal requests, investigate fraud or misuse, or protect someone’s rights or safety.
  • In a business transfer, such as a merger or sale, where information would move under this policy and any notice the law requires.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use your content for advertising or to train AI models. The iPhone app does not contain advertising or analytics software.

14. How long we keep information

We keep information only as long as we need it for the reasons in this policy:

  • Account information stays while your account exists. Records used to limit repeated sign-in attempts are removed after about a day.
  • Shared content stays until it is removed, the connection ends, or an account is deleted. There are a few exceptions. Received notes and opened Open when… letters stay with the recipient for 30 days after the connection ends, then are deleted. Letters that haven’t been opened are deleted for both of you when the connection ends. Technical records of deleted calendar events are kept for 30 days so another device does not bring the event back. Your own weekly check-in answers and private Understanding Each Other answers stay with your account.
  • Game rounds expire after one hour to seven days, depending on the game. Tug-of-Draw rounds expire after 24 hours. Expired rounds become unavailable right away, and scheduled cleanup deletes them.
  • Date ideas picks are deleted at the reveal, or when that week’s ideas close, about two weeks after they arrive. Records of which ideas each week showed you are deleted after 26 weeks. A photo uploaded for Our dates but never added to a date is removed after about an hour, and its file is deleted as described for removed photos below. Matches, plans, Our list, and Our dates stay until one of you removes them or the connection ends. When the connection ends, whether by disconnecting, blocking, or deleting an account, all of them are deleted for both of you, including Our dates photos and lines. Unlike received notes, they are not kept for 30 days. Reports about them are kept as described below.
  • Removed photos become unavailable right away. Scheduled cleanup then deletes the file from storage, usually within a few days.
  • Reports are kept for up to 90 days, then deleted. Deleting the reporter’s account deletes their report sooner. A report about a note can stay for its full 90 days if the sender deletes their account. Records of review actions are kept for up to 90 days.
  • Blocks and suspensions stay in place until they are lifted, including after an account is deleted, as explained in section 11.
  • Notification tokens are removed when you turn notifications off or sign out, and expire 30 days after your app last registered.
  • Support email is deleted within 12 months after your request is resolved.
  • Routine server logs under our control are kept for no more than 30 days. Backups under our control expire within 30 days. A deleted record can remain in a backup until the backup expires. If we ever restore a backup, we reapply deletions before the service is used again.
  • Purchase records we hold are deleted with your account. Apple and Paddle keep their own records.

We may keep specific information longer only when it is needed to investigate a specific security incident, handle an active dispute, or meet a legal obligation, and only for that purpose.

15. Deleting your account or disconnecting

Disconnecting ends your shared space for both of you and removes the shared content in it, except for the items listed in section 14.

Deleting your account can be done in the app (Account, then Delete account) or from the account page on kinharmony.app. It permanently deletes your account, ends any partner connection, and removes your shared content, your account-saved content, and our copies of your purchase records, except for the items listed in section 14. Your partner keeps their own account and content.

Deleting your account does not erase information stored only on your device, copies your partner saved, or records Apple and Paddle keep. It does not cancel a subscription. Cancel through Apple or Paddle to stop renewal.

16. Your choices and privacy rights

You can manage saved items on your device, choose what to share, disconnect or block, turn notifications and note previews on or off, decline Find the right words, turn off microphone access, withdraw keepsake permission, and delete your account.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we have about you and get a copy;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • delete your information;
  • opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising, or certain profiling (we do none of these); and
  • appeal if we decline your request.

We will honor these requests for anyone who asks, whether or not a law requires it where you live. If you live in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand, section 19 describes more rights and where to complain.

How to ask. Email cs@kinharmony.app from the address on your account, and tell us what you are asking for. We may ask for information to confirm it is you. You can use an authorized agent where the law allows, and we may ask for proof that they are authorized. We aim to respond within 30 days, and always within the time the law where you live requires, which is shorter in some places. If we need more time, we will tell you why. If we decline your request, we will explain why, and you can appeal by replying to our decision. In the United States, if you are not satisfied with our answer to an appeal, you can contact your state attorney general. Section 19 lists the privacy regulators for the other countries. We will not treat you differently for using your privacy rights.

Sensitive information. Some things you write, such as how you feel about your relationship, closeness, or family, may be sensitive. You choose what to write. We use it only to provide the features you ask for, and never to infer things about you for advertising or other purposes.

Browser signals. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a valid opt-out request in any case. The website does not respond differently to the older Do Not Track signal.

California. The kinds of personal information we collect are: identifiers such as your email address, name, account identifiers, and IP address; purchase records; device and internet activity information such as browser details and pages requested; photos you choose to share; and the content you write or draw. Your password and account login are protected as sensitive information. We collect them from you, your device, your partner when they share with you, and Apple and Paddle. We use them for the purposes in this policy, share them only as described in section 13, and keep them as described in section 14.

17. Children

KinHarmony is for adults 18 and older, including parents who want guidance about their children. It is not designed for children and does not create accounts or profiles for them. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact cs@kinharmony.app and we will delete it. Information a parent chooses to write about a child, such as an age range, is handled under the section for that feature.

18. Security

We protect information with encrypted connections, access controls, secure password hashing, restricted access for our team, and private storage for photos. No service or device can be perfectly secure. Please keep your password and your devices secure. If a security incident affects your information, we will notify you, and privacy regulators, as the law requires.

19. If you live in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand

The rest of this policy applies to you wherever you live. This section adds what the privacy laws of Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand ask us to tell you.

Your information is stored in the United States

We store and process your information in the United States. The service providers in section 13 also store it there, except that our network and security provider may handle website traffic at locations near you. If you use KinHarmony from another country, your information is sent to the United States. There it is protected by this policy and by our agreements with our providers, but it is subject to United States law. Courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities in the United States may be able to access it, and privacy laws there may differ from those where you live.

Apple and Paddle handle purchases under their own privacy policies and may process information in other countries. Paddle, which sells website memberships, is based in the United Kingdom and also operates in the United States, Ireland, and Canada.

Automated decisions

We do not make decisions about you based only on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects. The automatic filter in section 11 can hold back a message it flags, but only people on our team restrict or close an account.

United Kingdom

If you are in the United Kingdom, the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply. Dawsie Nora, LLC is the controller of your personal information, and you can contact us at cs@kinharmony.app.

We rely on these legal bases:

  • To provide KinHarmony, including your account, the features you use, what you share with your partner, memberships, and account emails: this is necessary to perform our agreement with you (our Terms of Use).
  • To keep KinHarmony safe and working, including sign-in protection, the automatic filter, reports, blocking and review, keeping a blocked or suspended person from returning with a new account, security, fixing problems, and answering support email: our legitimate interests in protecting you, your partner, and the service. We have weighed these interests against your rights, and you can object.
  • To meet legal obligations, such as keeping purchase and tax records or responding to lawful requests: legal obligation.
  • Notifications and note previews, which start only when you turn them on: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by turning them off.

You need to give us an email address and a password, or use Continue with Apple, to create an account. Everything else is optional, although some features need certain information to work.

You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict how we use it, to object to our use of it based on legitimate interests, to receive the information you gave us in a commonly used format, and to withdraw consent. We respond within one month. The law lets us extend this by up to two more months for complex requests, and we will tell you if we do.

Your information is transferred from the United Kingdom to the United States, as described above. Where UK law requires a safeguard for this, we use one it recognizes, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where a provider is certified under it, or the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses in our agreements with providers. Contact us for more information about these safeguards. We keep information only as long as section 14 describes.

If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please tell us first. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you the outcome. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab).

Canada

If you are in Canada, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) applies, along with provincial privacy laws where they apply, such as Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.

We collect, use, and share your personal information with your consent, for the purposes in this policy. You give consent when you create an account, choose to use a feature, share with your partner, or turn on an optional setting. You can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, by turning a feature off, disconnecting, or deleting your account. If you withdraw consent, features that need that information stop working.

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, how we have used it, and who we have shared it with, and you can ask us to correct it. We respond within 30 days, unless the law allows more time and we tell you why. If you live in Quebec, you can also ask for the information you gave us in a structured, commonly used technological format.

Your information is stored and processed in the United States by us and by our service providers, as described above. While it is there, it may be accessed by the courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities of the United States.

You can reach the person responsible for privacy at Dawsie Nora, LLC at cs@kinharmony.app. If you have a concern, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca (opens in a new tab), to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec at cai.gouv.qc.ca (opens in a new tab), or to the privacy commissioner of your province.

Australia

If you are in Australia, we handle your personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. You do not have to give us your real name: a first name or nickname is enough, and you can use the private writing tools without an account.

We are likely to disclose your personal information to overseas recipients in the United States, where our service providers and Apple are located, and, for website purchases, in the United Kingdom, where Paddle is based.

You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you and to correct it. We will respond within 30 days. If we refuse, we will tell you why in writing and how to complain.

To complain about how we have handled your personal information, email cs@kinharmony.app. We will look into it and reply in writing within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au (opens in a new tab).

New Zealand

If you are in New Zealand, the Privacy Act 2020 applies. Some information about you may come from someone else, such as what your partner shares with you or writes in shared features, and purchase information from Apple or Paddle. It is handled under this policy.

You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you and to correct it. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can, and within 20 working days. Our service providers in the United States hold your information on our behalf, and we disclose information to others outside New Zealand only as the Privacy Act 2020 allows.

If you have a concern, please contact us first. If we cannot resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz (opens in a new tab).

20. Changes and contact

When we update this policy, we will post the new version at https://kinharmony.app/privacy with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will also notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
